Geography touches nearly every part of daily life—from the food we eat and the places we travel, to the decisions businesses and governments make every day. Geography is much more than state capitals; it’s a dynamic, interdisciplinary field that helps us understand and navigate the world.
At Ball State, the Geography major introduces you to the relationships between people, places, and environments while developing valuable technical skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis. Students can choose to specialize in:
- Tourism
- Geographic Information Science
- Meteorological Studies
You’ll have opportunities to:
- Collaborate with faculty on research and applied projects
- Join student organizations like Gamma Theta Upsilon (Geography Honor Society) and the Meteorology Club
- Chase storms, conduct fieldwork, and study abroad or away
Graduates of the program have gone on to fulfilling careers with:
- Duke Energy (geospatial data analysis)
- Indiana Department of Homeland Security (weather monitoring for emergency management)
- Airlines and transportation industries (operations and logistics)
Geography students graduate ready to make sense of a complex, changing world—and to shape it.
