The theatre minor is designed for students who wish to enhance their course of study in another major by exploring a wide variety of courses in theatre.
Curriculum
Ball State’s theatre minor allows you to gain hands-on experience in theatre, in and out of the classroom.
- The theatre minor course work allows you to explore your passion. In addition to taking classes in the Department of Theatre and Dance, you will participate in the production season, building on your classroom experience.
- The theatre minor requires 20 credits. In addition to theatre minor core courses, you will have a wide array of electives to choose from so that you can tailor the minor to your particular interests.
- As a Ball State student, you have access to exciting immersive learning opportunities to collaborate with other disciplines and get involved in projects with real-world impact.
- Ball State Department of Theatre and Dance is an active award-winning participant in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF).

Work Opportunities
With 20 or more theatre and dance performances each year in our mainstage, studio, and workshop spaces, you will have opportunities to work on classic and contemporary plays, musicals, dance pieces, and works that are devised or not textually based.
- As a theatre minor, you are eligible to audition for departmental productions beginning second term of your freshman year. Not an actor? You can pursue opportunities in other areas as well.
- Ball State University is within driving distance of major theatres in Chicago, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Louisville.
- Theatre faculty can be a resource for you as you look for theatre internships or summer work.
