Yong Zhou, director of the Institute for Global and Online Education at the University of Oregon, will speak about innovative education models in the age of globalization during an address at 7 p.m. April 21 in Emens Auditorium on the Ball State campus.

Zhou is an internationally known scholar, author and speaker who has designed schools cultivating global competence, developed computer games for language learning and founded research and development institutions to explore innovative education models. He will speak as part of the 2014 Emens Distinguished Professor Lecture Series. His presentation is titled "Education in the 21st Century."

Zhao has published more than 100 articles and 20 books, including "Catching Up or Leading the Way: American Education in the Age of Globalization" and, released in 2013, "World Class Learners: Educating Creative and Entrepreneurial Students." He is a recipient of the Early Career Award from the American Educational Research Association and was named one of the 10 Most Influential People in Educational Technology by Tech & Learn Magazine in 2012. He is an elected fellow of the International Academy for Education.
