Audiences of all ages will enjoy a lavish show of dance paired with a stunning display of unique set designs as part of Ball State University's latest dance concert, "Design and Dance." The production comes to the University Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. April 23-26.

"We chose 'Design and Dance' because our choreographers wanted to push their creativity to an unfamiliar place," said Audra Sokol, director of Ball State's dance program and associate professor of dance. "You don’t see much set design in dance, especially on a larger scale, so we took this as a challenge to further our artistry."

Sokol said the dancers will create an intimate experience for the audience as they explore this rare opportunity to pair dance with set design. "Each choreographer has different tastes so one can expect to see a variety of dance styles featured in the show, including ballet, modern and contemporary. Dance can express and represent many things, and I hope we can offer art that is thought-provoking to our viewers."

Tickets for "Design and Dance" cost $14 for the general public, $13 for faculty and staff, $10 for senior citizens and $8 for students. They are available from the University Theatre Box Office, open from noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Contact the box office at 765-285-8749 or visit www.bsu.edu/theatre for more information.
