This year, enrollment will be required for the following benefits for 2024:

  • flexible spending account (FSA)
  • health savings account (HSA)
  • recertify your tobacco-free status to begin or continue the Tobacco-Free Premium Discount
  • reverify your spouse's eligibility to be covered on our plan if your spouse had an employment change this year
  • The Hartford - GAP Coverages - the three lines of coverage (Accident, Hospital Indemnity, and Critical Illness) that are currently administered by Allstate will be moved to The Hartford effective January 1, 2024.  If you have these plans ensure you are satisfied with the coverage and rates for 2024.

With the exception of the benefits listed above, if no other changes are made during benefits open enrollment, your current elections will continue next year for the following benefits:

  • medical/prescription
  • dental
  • voluntary life, voluntary short-term disability, and vision
  • voluntary supplemental life Insurance & voluntary STD - The Hartford has agreed to bypass the EOI requirement up to the guaranteed issue amounts this year as a result of adding the new voluntary insurance plans.  Amounts above the guaranteed issued will still require EOI and medical underwriting

If you do not take any action during Open Enrollment, you will lose your tobacco-free premium discount beginning January 1. This is a substantial benefit/cost savings offered to all Ball State University employees who are, and remain, tobacco-free.
