Mary Konkle
Associate Professor of Chemistry
About Me
I am originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have lived in upstate New York, Nashville, and San Antonio during my professional career. I worked as a synthetic Organic chemist at a pharma-ceutical company after my undergraduate degree, and then shifted to biochemistry after realizing how much I like to work in an ensemble in an interdisciplinary way. I am amazed at how small chemical changes can cause a large biological impact.
My College Experience
I received my degree from Ball State University in 2001. I came to Ball State on scholarship in the School of Music. Supportive and encouraging faculty in the Department of Chemistry facilitated my switch to a Chemistry degree.
What I have Learned?
Mentoring is such an important part of education and career progression.
