Kris Swanson is a Sergeant with the Muncie Police Department and a Digital Forensic Analyst assigned to the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit (HTCU). He has served in law enforcement since 2010 and has extensive investigative experience involving crimes against children, digital evidence, and complex criminal investigations. He founded the Muncie Police Department Cyber Lab in 2016 and has worked with the regional High Tech Crime Unit since 2022, serving 11 counties. Swanson helped establish and supervise the HTCU internship program and conducts digital forensic examinations for law enforcement agencies throughout East Central Indiana. As an ILEA certified instructor, he also provides training in digital forensics to law enforcement officers.
A Ball State University alumnus, Swanson earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Digital Forensics at Champlain College. He is a member of the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) and holds multiple digital forensic certifications, including Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), along with extensive specialized training in computer and mobile device forensics.
Swanson is actively engaged in community service and nonprofit work. He volunteers with Isaiah 117 House, supporting children entering foster care, and serves as the current President of the Delaware County Child Prevention Council (PCA), where he works to strengthen child abuse prevention efforts and community awareness initiatives. He is a community speaker on issues related to child abuse in Delaware County.
He enjoys spending time with his family and motorcycle rides with his wife. He is a father of four and his two oldest children are current Ball State University students.
