Jake's research focuses on biomimicry, a new science that studies nature’s models and then imitates, or takes inspiration from, these designs and processes to solve human problems.

Using these design principles, he is finding new solutions for using natural phenomena, such as thermoregulation and applying them to buildings in order to find ways to significantly reduce building energy consumption.
