The Department of Media regularly invites industry experts to campus so students can network with professionals working across the country. Visiting experts engage with students in a variety of ways like teaching classes, holding open office hours, hosting open Q&A sessions, and mentoring projects.

Knhik Haefner ClassKnhik Haefner

Spring 2025

Visual effects producer Knhik Haefner spent five weeks on campus with Media students. He guest lectured in classes, held open office hours, and worked with VFX and Motion Graphics students. Mr. Haefner has worked with VFX teams on numerous shows—including Lucifer, West World, Gotham, and Agents of Shield—with the visual effects studio CoSA. His most recent work was for Marvel Animation as a Production Supervisor for the character and animation departments on What If…? and Marvel Zombies.

This visit was funded by the Edmund F. and Virginia B. Ball Visiting Expert in Residence for Media initiative which brings media industry experts to campus to provide meaningful insights to students in and out of the classroom.

Spring 2025

Kaline Schounce, a 40-year industry expert and multi award-winning cinematographer, taught Media courses in Sports Cinematography and Industry Techniques & Freelancing during the Spring 2025.

As a director of photography on hundreds of projects across the world, Mr. Schounce has collaborated with national networks at 20 Super Bowls, five Olympic Games, nearly 40 Indianapolis 500s, multiple NBA Finals and World Series, as well as PGA, Open Championship and U.S. Open golf tournaments.

In 2004, Kaline founded P1 Productions Inc., a full-service production house based in Carmel, Indiana. P1’s client list includes NFL Films, NBC Sports, ESPN/ABC Sports, Fox Sports, Big Ten Network, NASCAR, Indy Car, NBA Entertainment and Notre Dame Fighting Irish Media. Servicing all those clients continues today.

David and Christina ArquetteChristina and David Arquette with students

Fall 2023

Actors and producers David and Christina Arquette spent two weeks on campus with Media students visiting classes, hosting open Q&A sessions, and advising on set with Radiance Cinema.

Mr. Arquette’s acting career spans over three decades, appearing in such films as the Scream franchise, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Airheads, and Never Been Kissed. He has also stepped into the role of producer and director on films and television series.

A former correspondent and anchor with Entertainment Tonight and The Insider, Ms. Arquette’s film and TV credits as a producer/executive producer include They Call Me Magic, The First Step Act, and God Said Give ‘Em Drum Machines.
