Research Areas
Tengfei Ma earned a doctorate in Epidemiology and MS in Biostatistics at Michigan State (MSU); and BS in Life Science & Biotechnology from Wuhan University. He completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at MSU, then became a biostatistician for Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. His research focuses on understanding the interactions between gut microbiome, environmental exposures, and health outcomes with emphasis on maternal/child health. He utilizes advanced biostatistical methodologies, multiomics approaches, and innovative machine learning techniques to address questions related to the gut microbiome development trajectory and the gut-brain axis in the context of large population studies. His work seeks to uncover mechanisms linking gut microbiome composition/function to neurodevelopment and health disparities.
