Research Areas
Nikolaos "Nikko" Rivera earned a MSH in Cardiovascular Epidemiology, and certificates in Global Health and Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety from Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health. In addition to his current role with the CDC Public Health Infrastructure Center as a Health Equity Leadership Development Initiative Fellow, Mr. Rivera has worked for the Truth Initiative, training community leaders for tobacco cessation initiatives; during graduate school he worked with the diversity summer internship program and held a research assistant position. He published his Masters thesis entitled "Ultra‐processed Food Consumption and Risk of Incident Hypertension in US Middle‐aged Adults" in the Journal of the American Heart Association in 2024. Mr. Rivera describes his passion as the prevention of disease and community outreach.
