Carlos Tesoro
Assistant Teaching Professor of Acting and Acting for the Camera
Carlos Tesoro is an actor, director, producer, filmmaker, educator, and arts leader who has built a career working across nearly every corner of the entertainment industry. A graduate of the Yale School of Drama with an MFA in Acting, Carlos has always considered himself a jack-of-all-trades, master of one: storytelling. Whether in front of the camera, behind it, in the rehearsal room, at a film festival, or in the classroom, his work is rooted in creating authentic stories and helping artists find their individual voices.
As an actor, Carlos has performed with Yale Repertory Theatre, East West Players, Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), and others. His stage roles have included Bassanio in The Merchant of Venice , Ariel in The Tempest , Oliver in As You Like It , Telegin in Uncle Vanya , and Anthony in A. Rey Pamatmat’s New . His screen credits include Kalabaw in Kristo , which appeared at the ASEAN International Film Festival, Best Partee Ever , which screened at the QCinema International Film Festival, and the digital comedy series The Corps . Carlos is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association.
Behind the camera, Carlos has worked as a director, producer, designer, creative consultant, and production professional across film, television, commercials, and live entertainment. His credits include NBC’s The Voice , VH1 Divas , America’s Got Talent , and the American Music Awards , as well as concerts and live productions featuring internationally recognized recording artists including Christina Aguilera, Vanessa Hudgens, and Leona Lewis. He also served as an associate producer/director for K-Pop group JYJ’s world tour, The Beginning , and contributed to Filipino films including Star Cinema’s Seven Sundays and Arkeo Film’s Apocalypse Child.
Carlos also worked as a producer on the feature film Songs for Selina , a music-driven drama about friendship, ambition, and the cost of success in the entertainment industry. The film was released in 2026 and is now on Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services.
Carlos serves as Artistic Director and Programmer of the SEE Asian Film Festival, where he helps curate and champion films and filmmakers from Southeast and East Asian communities. His work with the festival reflects his broader commitment to creating space for distinctive voices, connecting filmmakers with audiences, and celebrating stories that expand the representation of Asian experiences on screen.
He is also the founder of View Frame Productions, a creative home dedicated to developing grounded, expressive storytellers through professional training, mentorship, collaboration, and original creative work. Through View Frame, Carlos works with emerging and professional actors to develop practical on-camera technique while encouraging confidence, imagination, individuality, and an understanding of the realities of today’s entertainment industry.
Carlos’s work as an educator brings these different parts of his career together. His teaching combines classical actor training with contemporary on-camera technique, filmmaking, audition preparation, and the business of being a working artist. He is currently an Assistant Teaching Professor of Acting and Acting for the Camera at Ball State University, where his work includes Acting for the Camera, Senior Industry preparation, and Radiance Cinema, an interdisciplinary filmmaking experience that brings actors and student filmmakers together to create original short films.
His work extends beyond traditional entertainment as well. Carlos founded the corporate coaching company Behind the Scenes, built around the idea of “making being human work again,” and has worked with organizations and brands including Nestlé, Solaire, Jack Morton, and Netflix. He is also a co-founder of Some Folks Productions, created to advance stories and perspectives too often left unheard, under the motto “The Untold, Told.”
Across acting, directing, producing, film programming, teaching, and creative development, Carlos continues to champion artists who bring their own identities and lived experiences into their work. His career may have given him many job titles, but the through line remains simple: make the work, tell meaningful stories, and help the next generation of artists build careers that are authentically their own.
