Text analysis, or “distant reading,” is a powerful and versatile methodology within digital scholarship. This workshop will introduce several different types of text analysis, discuss important applications, and highlight common misconceptions. Participants will learn the basic process for preprocessing text for analysis and will be introduced to Voyant, an online text mining platform.

International students, please join us to learn about the services and resources you can use at the Ball State University Libraries. We'll talk about searching for and borrowing books, as well as finding library databases in your field so that you can search for reliable articles on your research topics. We'll also make sure you know about printing options at the libraries and how to borrow laptops and other electronic equipment. Most importantly, we want to make sure you know about the many ways you can get help when you have questions!

Explore the research process and develop advanced strategies to make your music research more efficient. We’ll discuss how to strengthen keywords, narrow searches through filters, and run subject searches. Then we’ll expand your research horizons with powerful tools like bibliographies, discographies, WorldCat, Google Scholar, and LibKey Nomad.
