Thank you for considering the psychology doctoral externship program at the Ball State University Counseling Center! Our training model is developmental and aimed to support the growth and development of clinical skills and your professional identity. We highly value training competent therapists and want our trainees to have a well-rounded, supportive experience as they work towards their career as a psychologist. We offer a two-semester placement that provides opportunities for engaging in the provision of direct service, outreach, and a variety of other training activities.
We are a fast-paced, active counseling center that serves a diverse student population. In order to meet the needs of the campus community, we are continuously developing new programming to be adaptive, creative, and inclusive. Training placements benefit from the opportunity to work within a dynamic system and strengthen their professional skills beyond the traditional clinical skills, including the development of critical thinking skills and involvement with a multidisciplinary team. We are proud of our warm, collegial atmosphere and devotion to providing quality training to graduate students from various disciplines.
