Emergency contraception is available through the Health Center.
Plan B is the most commonly prescribed emergency contraception in our clinic. It is approved by the FDA for use up to 72 hours after an act of unprotected intercourse or contraception failure or in correct use of a contraceptive. Plan B is currently available in Indiana without a prescription and therefore patients may obtain this directly from a pharmacy.
Ella is another option for emergency contraception but is only available with a prescription from a healthcare provider. This is FDA approved for use up to 120 hours after an act of unprotected intercourse or contraception failure or in correct use of a contraceptive.
We strongly encourage anyone requesting emergency contraception to come to the Health Center to talk to a staff member to discuss
which medication will be the best option for them, usage and possible side effects.
Our goal is to help students make an informed decision and to explore any future needs for contraception and find which method will be best for each student individually.
