To assess the degree to which the module enhances P3 relationships, the project conducted preliminary LEED Assessment (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). LEED is the U.S. Green Building Council certification program for high performance buildings.
As a market-driven process that assesses the human and environmental healthiness of projects, it is used herein to assess P3 relationships of the project. While LEED certification can only occur through formal assessment after the project has been used for a period of time, Phase I of this project included preliminary informal assessment by three (3) LEED-accredited professionals (Robert Koester, Director, BSU Center for Energy Research, Education and Service; and the project Co-P.I.s). Even though the initial phase was not designed with LEED accreditation in mind, preliminarily informal assessment of the P3 Award project (by three LEED Accredited Professionals) indicates that it would most likely receive the second highest rating of LEED Gold.
