Sotiris Hji-Avgoustis
Department Chair of the Department of Applied Business Studies and Professor of Hospitality Innovation and Leadership
Dr. Sotiris Hji-Avgoustis is Chairperson and a professor of the Ball State University Department of Applied Business Studies in the Miller College of Business. He joined the university in 2013 after a successful academic career at Indiana University – Indianapolis. His research interests are in the area of city tourism with emphasis on cultural tourism, sports tourism, and meetings, incentives, conferences, and expositions (MICE).
Dr. Hji-Avgoustis has published extensively in national and international journals on these topics and he has been an invited presenter at national and international tourism conferences. In the areas of service to the global tourism community and the profession, Dr. Hji-Avgoustis has been involved with numerous civic, professional and business groups serving in leadership roles and positions. His teaching expertise includes the delivery of courses in organizational behavior, hospitality economics, tourism entrepreneurship and hospitality management, and decision making.
