Mike Steele is a mathematics education researcher focused on teacher knowledge and teacher learning in secondary mathematics. He is the Past President of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators, Editor in Chief of the journal Mathematics Teacher Educator, and member of the Board of Directors of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. A former middle and high school mathematics and science teacher, he has authored dozens of books and journal articles focused on mathematics teacher learning, including NCTM’s Taking Action: Implementing Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices in Grades 6-8, The 5 Practices in Practice: Successfully Orchestrating Mathematics Discussions in Your High School Classroom, and A Quiet Revolution: One District’s Story of Radical Curricular Change in Mathematics.
