ASSOCIATE AT NORRIS DESIGN, PHOENIX
Mandy Woods is an associate for Norris Design, a design firm
providing planning, landscape architecture, and branding services, with
locations in Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma. She works in the Phoenix
location alongside a talented and diverse team of designers, making an impact
with every project, no matter how small. Her day-to-day may include a variety
of project work at a variety of scales, including but not limited to zoning and
entitlement cases, site planning, and community master plan design.
Previously, Woods served in Indiana as the executive
director of the Huntington Countywide Department of Community Development, a combined building and planning department which serves the
unincorporated areas of the county and each of the five incorporated towns:
Andrews, Markle, Mount Etna, Roanoke, and Warren. In 2016, Woods became a
certified floodplain manager (CFM). Alongside her amazing staff, she enforced
zoning compliance, issued building permits, addressed unsafe structure
complaints, issued addresses, reviewed land use requests, and more. In 2018, Woods
led and completed an update to the County’s comprehensive plan, the Huntington
County Comprehensive Plan 2040.
Woods graduated from Ball State University’s Estopinal
College of Architecture and Planning with a Bachelor of Urban Planning and Development
in December 2013. Her first planning position was with the City of Marion, Indiana,
first as an intern in the planning department, eventually serving as chief of
staff under Mayor Seybold in 2015. During her time with the City of Marion, she
assisted with writing an amendment to the City’s comprehensive plan and
collaborated with a local team to produce a downtown-focused strategic
investment plan for the State of Indiana’s Stellar Communities Program in both
2014 and 2015.
Outside of work, Woods has a passion for reading, writing, a
variety of creative projects – including cosplay – and spending time with
friends and family, particularly her two precious daughters and husband Ryan.
