Information Technology provides many administration and support services for the University’s enterprise software and technology services for every college and department on campus, including our ERP systems, LMS systems, Content Management systems, communications systems, wired and wireless networking, and many more.

Enterprise systems and Operations

Through many distinct service offerings, Enterprise Systems & Operations (ESO) provides continuous computing availability to the campus community for academic and administrative information systems.  This effort requires continual monitoring of critical systems, resulting in prompt and appropriate response to alerts and problems.

Within the Systems Division, services include server builds/decommissions, application and system backup & recovery, virtualization, data storage, and security vulnerability remediation for enterprise and alternate platforms.  Among other services, Systems also provides cloud provisioning and management to vendors such as AWS & Azure, ERP Banner patching, and Workflow automation and administration.

Within the Operations Division, services include control and automation of core processes within the business and academic systems through job scheduling, process automation, and output distribution. Additional services consist of BSU’s primary campus phone number for general information and reporting of critical system outages 24/7, via Operations Control Center (OCC).

ESO’s combined efforts and diligent pursuit of efficiencies continue to enhance BSU’s overall systems resiliency and availability.

If you have questions, please call the OCC area directly at 765-285-1549.

The Enterprise Information Systems Services (EISS) staff are responsible for database administration and integrations between Banner ERP system and vendor provided systems such as Canvas, Mediasite, and StarRez. The team is also responsible for legacy in-house-developed systems.

Additionally, the EISS staff is responsible for supporting systems such as the Sitecore Content Management System (CMS) and Service-Now.

Permissions to Positions

Information Technology is in the process of implementing a “permissions to positions” model to make sure employee positions have the enterprise software and services access they need to do their job on day one.

When this process is implemented and a new employee is hired—or a current employee changes positions—an automatic process will run to give the employee access to the software and services access that position requires—which, in many cases, will eliminate the need to request permissions to these services on an individual employee basis. We expect this process to be ready sometime in the summer of 2019.
