Sue Hodges Moore dedicated her 45-year career to improving lives through public higher education. She served at a comprehensive university in a major metropolitan area, a major urban research university, a rural research institution, a community and technical college system, a fledgling virtual university, and a statewide coordinating board.

Just prior to her retirement in December 2021, Ms. Hodges Moore served on the President’s Cabinet as the chief strategy officer at Ball State University. In this role, she advised the President and campus leadership on strategic plan development and implementation. She established systems and processes that supported strategy alignment and execution, data-informed decision-making, incentive-based resource allocation, and measurement of critical success indicators. Ms. Hodges Moore also supervised the offices of Institutional Research and Decision Support, Community Engagement, and Inclusive Excellence.

Before joining Ball State, Ms. Hodges Moore dedicated nearly 40 years to the people of Kentucky. She began her career at her alma mater, Northern Kentucky University, where she returned as a vice president overseeing planning and budget in 2005 and concluded her service in 2018 as senior vice president of administration and finance. In that role, she provided oversight for the budget and finance functions, human resources, facilities management, information technology, planning and institutional research, policy development, enterprise risk assessment, and business operations and auxiliary services.

From 1994–2005, Sue held senior leadership positions at the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, including executive vice president and interim president. Early in her career, she held various administrative positions in planning, budget, and institutional research at East Carolina University and the University of Louisville.

Ms. Hodges Moore earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Northern Kentucky University, an MBA from Xavier University, and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Louisville.

She resides in Muncie, Indiana, with her husband, Ron Moore, who also enjoyed an extensive and rewarding career as a university vice president.
