Dr. Sherri Barrow is an Assistant Professor of School Counseling at Ball State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and is dually credentialed in Indiana as a Professional School Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She brings 15 years of PK-12 school counseling experience in Indianapolis to her teaching and research.

Dr. Barrow's mission is to sustain and empower professional school counselors as leaders, advocates, and collaborators who thrive and lead systemic change. Her scholarship advances this mission through three connected research lines. Her first line, Transforming School Counseling, looks at how school counselor preparation develops career-ready, culturally responsive professional school counselors for a thriving profession. Her second line, School Counselors as Leaders, Advocates, and Collaborators, looks at how partnerships among school counselors, principals, and teachers expand access, life-readiness, and academic success for PK-12 students. Her third line, AI Innovation in School Counseling Education and Practice, studies how artificial intelligence can be used ethically and effectively in school counselor preparation, supervision, and practice.

Dr. Barrow co-leads the Transforming School Counseling Special Interest Network of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) and serves on the Indiana School Counseling Association (INSCA) Board. She is an active member of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), and the EB-ACA School Counseling Committee. Through her research, teaching, and service, she prepares the next generation of professional school counselors to lead systemic change in PK-12 schools.
