Tom Ayer
Senior Director of Gift Planning
If you want to make sure that you continue to make the world a better place long after you’re gone, Tom is your man. As Senior Director of Gift Planning, Tom’s passion is helping people build a legacy and be remembered for their kindness and generosity.
Before arriving at Ball State in 2022, Tom worked for the American Cancer Society as its planned giving officer, the Steier Group (a fundraising consulting company) as campaign manager, and CICOA Aging and In-Home Services as corporate and planned giving manager.
Details matter to Tom, and his passion for planning pervades his avocational life as well. In his spare time, he is an expert at designing, building and running model train operations. He is also a firm believer that you can’t plan for the future without understanding the past, which is why he is such an enthusiast of American history, especially the Civil War.
Tom and his wife Brigid have a son, Joseph, and two daughters, Mary and Brigid Grace, who is currently a student at Ball State.
