The School of Art offers a four-year liberal arts degree program leading to a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Graphic Design Studies.

Graphic Design Studies combines introductory coursework in graphic design with training in graphic communications management, which emphasizes hands-on experience with industry technologies, equipment, and printing processes. This liberal arts degree emphasizes broad experience rather than professional specialization and is best for those students interested in careers such as Design Management, Marketing, Graphic Communication Management, or owning their own production business such as a print or custom apparel shop. Students intending to become professional graphic designers should select the BFA in Graphic Design.

After completing introductory courses, students in this program choose from a menu of electives in graphic design, photography, and graphic communications management to dive deeper into their interests in the theories, techniques, and strategies of visual communication and production. Students acquire functional knowledge of design and production processes, achieve an awareness of relevant ethical issues, and work together on teams to solve problems.

At just 48 credit hours, the BS in Graphic Design Studies affords students time to pursue a second major or one or more minors, which further broadens their skills and experience.
