Nidia Flis

Nidia Flis was born and raised in Honduras, Central America. She has a Master’s degree in Teaching English of Speakers of other Languages from Ball State University and a Bachelor’s degree in teaching English and a certificate to teach higher education from Universidad Pedagógica Nacional “Francisco Morazán” in Honduras. She has worked as an ESL instructor since 1999 at all academic levels including college and as an English coordinator in a bilingual school. At BSU, she worked as an ESL instructor for international students for 10 years. Due to her ESL and pedagogical experience and background, she has worked on international projects in China and India. At BSU, she has also mentored graduate students and has been a part of projects that train new teachers from Iraq. Nidia has also served as an English and Spanish translator and interpreter, especially in the Muncie area. Currently, she is teaching different levels of Spanish in the Modern Languages and Classics Department at BSU. Her special interests include second language acquisition, project-based learning, creation and materials development, and Spanish for the health professions.
