I’ve always wanted to be a Classics professor, I think—or at least since as a freshman in high school I learned my first Latin and first roamed the ancient world.  In fact, in my high school yearbook (Lyons Township High School, LaGrange, IL) under my senior picture it says “wants to be Classics professor.”

I can’t say that I thought I’d take my new PhD (Classical Philology, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) to Muncie, IN, but I’ve been very happy here—and often refer to Indiana as ‘almost paradise.”

Over the last 16 years, teaching Ball State students on the ancient sites in Greece and Italy—both in summer and over the winter holiday—has been a great source of pleasure for me.  I hope I can continue to do it!
