Drawing students develop skills in form rendering, detailed descriptions, and idea expression and gesture.
Drawing students work with a full range of media including charcoals, Conté crayons, inks, pencils, and colored pencils in forms of mixed and experimental media.

Drawing is a fundamental and indispensable component of any comprehensive studio arts curriculum. The School of Art’s drawing area focuses on skill development, conceptual development, applied methodologies, as well as digital technologies and tools. We offer classes in figure drawing, point of view, narrative and metaphor, and experimental practice. We regard drawing as both a traditional and a contemporary area of study.

Analytical and critical thinking are stressed and interdisciplinary, collaborative studies are encouraged. Traditional drawing materials such as pen, pencil, and charcoal are supplemented by a broad range of nontraditional mark-making media.
