Dr. Allen has almost 15 years of experience in the field of psychology as faculty, clinician, and supervisor. She enjoys teaching and mentoring students and contributing to efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in primary, secondary, and higher education settings.
Professional Experience
Dr. Allen is a licensed psychologist with many years of experience in evaluation and assessment of children and adults, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and individual and group supervision in multiple settings including pediatric hospitals, private practices, universities and colleges, and non-profit community mental health centers. Specialty areas comprise neurodevelopmental disorders including intellectual impairment, autism, ADHD, and learning disorders as well as co-morbid psychiatric disorders, special education planning and programming, mental status, guardianship, and expert testimony. Dr. Allen’s training includes a post-doctoral fellowship at a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program funded through the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and Maternal Child Health Bureau (MCHB) at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Allen has also held a faculty appointment at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine specializing in psychological evaluation as well as teaching of medical residents.
